Nearly two decades ago, Idemitsu collaborated with Honda to innovate a lower viscosity oil aimed at enhancing fuel efficiency for hybrid vehicles. The breakthrough Idemitsu 0W-20, crafted with specialized additives for improved stability, became the chosen oil for Honda's new Insight Hybrid. This initiative paved the way for its adoption in non-hybrid models and caught the attention of other leading Japanese automakers, leading to widespread use among major brands by 2009.
